BBQ with the crew, cadets and researchers of the Umitaka Maru

Umitaka Maru, a training and research vessel operated by Tokyo University of Marine Science & Technology, is visiting Hobart again this year after her annual expedition to the Antarctic Waters.

AJS-TAS is pleased to host a BBQ Shinnenkai (New Year Party) welcoming the students, scientists and ship’s personnel, together with our members, friends and the Antarctic community.

As this year's visit falls in the middle of the week, our BBQ Shinnenkai will be held on a Wednesday evening. We will meet at the Waterworks Reserve at 6pm on 5 February 2020.

Bring your friends, and enjoy a relaxed day with the students, scientists and crew members of Umitaka Maru. RSVPs are essential. Please register for this event by Friday 31 January 2020.

FOOD/REFRESHMENTS: BBQ meats, seafood and salads will be supplied – please BYO refreshments.

We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Tasmanian Polar Network, Huon Aquaculture, Huon Valley Seafoods and Tasmania Feedlot in making this event possible.

There is also the opportunity to visit the vessel on the afternoon prior to the BBQ. Please register separately for the vessel visit here.
