Public tour of the research vessel Umitaka Maru
Umitaka Maru, a training and research vessel operated by Tokyo University of Marine Science & Technology, is visiting Hobart again after her annual expedition to the Antarctic Waters.
- Please wear flat, enclosed shoes on the day (strictly no sandals or high-heels).
- Please also note that no photography is permitted in the wharf area and that everyone entering the wharf will need to have provided identification (at time of registration).
- The 2pm assembly time is strict, as the entire assembled group will be escorted to the vessel at this time.
RSVPs are essential. Please register for this event by Wednesday 29 January 2020. It is advised to register even if you are uncertain about the availability at this stage, as without pre-registration you will not be allowed to get on board.
A short film chronicling the ships voyage from 2017 is available on YouTube.
We will also host a BBQ Shinnenkai (New Year Party) welcoming the students, scientists and ship’s personnel together with AJS-TAS members, friends and the Antarctic community. Please register separately for the BBQ here.
