On Thursday 24 April, Dr Emerald L King will be giving a public talk on How to appropriate appropriately - kimono and Japonaiserie. The talk will take place from 1pm at the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts. For further information and to register for this event, please visit Eventbrite.
Following the talk, our members are invited to stay behind for an exclusive viewing of 15 Japanese prints and watercolours. These include works by the celebrated artist Utagawa Hiroshige.
Some of these works are currently on public display as part of Tony Smibert’s Where Islands Meet exhibition, while the remaining pieces, normally held in storage, will be brought out especially for this occasion. These works form part of the Allport’s historical fine art collection.
This viewing is exclusively for members of the Australia-Japan Society of Tasmania only. Please note that, if you wish to join both the talk and the viewing, you will need to register for both events separately.
