AN EVENING OF FINE JAPANESE WHISKY

Destination Cellars is excited to announce that they will be celebrating Japanese whisky superstar SUNTORY's 100 year Anniversary with some ultra-rare Hibiki and some tasty drams from the Suntory stables.

They will delve into some wonderful Japanese drams, promising a night of great whisky not to be missed. They have selected three Hibiki drams that represent their famous trademark characteristics of elegance, balance and complexity. The sublime 17 year old; the discontinued 12 Year Old; & the flag ship Hibiki Harmony. They will also pop the top off a Suntory Old Whisky believed to have been Suntory's first release of a luxury whisky, plus all guests will receive a Suntory Toki Highball on arrival.

Here's the line up of Japanese whisky on tasting:

Hibiki 17 Year Old Blended Japanese Whisky - The Epitome of Japanese Whisky Elegance. A highly acclaimed and rare whisky, this is a blend of single malts and grain whisky from the Yamazaki (Japan's oldest founded in 1923), Hakushu and Chita distilleries. Hibiki 17 Year Old is one of the all-time great Japanese drams at Destination Cellars and unfortunately has become as rare as hens teeth. It gets some of its unique qualities from being filtered through bamboo charcoal, this process creates a softer spirit with sweeter tones and more mineral expression.

Hibiki 12 Year Old Blended Japanese Whisky - Discontinued in 2015 and now extremely rare. Elegant. Poised. Slowly revealing a clear yet complex equilibrium. "Hibiki" symbolises the unique marriage of malts and a harmonious blend from Japan. The 24 facets of the Hibiki bottle represent the 24 seasons of the age old Japanese calendar. The front label is beautifully made from "Washi", hand-crafted Japanese paper. It is produced in copper pot stills and aged in casks of three different kinds of oaks: American, Spanish and Japanese. Balanced, elegant and complex.

Hibiki Harmony Blended Japanese Whisky - Hibiki Harmony is a blend of Japanese malt and grain whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Presented in the brand's trademark 24-faceted bottle representing the traditional Japanese seasons, this is light, delicate and moreish with enticing notes of orange peel and white chocolate. Japanese whisky elegance personified.

Suntory Finest Old Japanese Blended Malt Whisky - Produced as early as 1940, it first came on the market in 1950 and gained much popularity in the post-war era and is well loved by many and holds an important place in the history of Japanese whisky. Suntory Old may be regarded as the company's first attempt at marketing a luxury whisky.

Suntory TOKI Blended Japanese Whisky - Toki means "time" in Japanese. It's a concept rich in meaning the world over, but particularly in Japan where respect for tradition and reinvention sparks a powerful creative energy. Inspired by that interplay, Suntory Whisky Toki brings together old and new -the House of Suntory's proud heritage and its innovative spirit- to create blended Japanese whisky that is both groundbreaking and timeless.
