The International Wall of Friendship is a unique feature of Hobart, with no known equivalent anywhere else in the world.

Built as a symbol of goodwill and recognition of the contribution that multicultural groups have made to the development of Tasmania, the Wall includes over 54 stones donated by migrant communities who have settled across Tasmania. This includes a plaque that was unveiled in November 2015 to celebrate the ongoing strong ties that exist between Australia and Japan.

We are delighted to invite our members and friends to join Jade, Sam and Connie from the International Wall of Friendship. They will give us a tour of the Wall, tell us about its history and explain their ongoing mission to bring Tasmania's communities closer together.

Participants are also invited to join us beforehand for an informal lunch at Yamashita Japanese Restaurant.

If you would like to join us for the tour only, then please meet at the International Wall of Friendship at 2pm promptly.

If you would like to join us for lunch as well, then please meet at Yamashita Japanese Restaurant (31 Criterion Street, Hobart) at 12.30pm. No pre-payment is required: you can simply pay for your food and drink on the day. We will walk directly from the restaurant to the International Wall of Friendship for the tour.
